  3. This is the evaluation version of VirusNet, a complete
  4. anti-virus and disaster recovery system from Safetynet, Inc.
  5. VirusNet detects known and unknown viruses.  It's disaster
  6. recovery feature can revive workstations that fail to boot.
  7.  
  8. This eval is identical to the retail PC version except that:
  9. * "For Evaluation Only" is displayed on several screens.
  10.  
  11. You may use this demo for evaluation purposes only.

  16. ========================= VirusNet Features =========================
  17.  
  18. Multi-Platform Support
  19. ----------------------
  20. VirusNet is shipped with identical DOS and Windows versions and
  21. is compabible with DOS, network, and OS/2 HPFS drives.  VirusNet
  22. supports all major networks including Netware, Vines, LAN Manager,
  23. LAN Server, Pathworks, and Windows for Workgroups.

  25. Known Virus Detection
  26. ---------------------
  27. The VirusNet Secure scan recently received outstanding
  28. detection scores of 99.2% in the Lambdin test and 96% in the
  29. VSUM test.  Dual signatures allow it to accurately detect viruses
  30. without producing false alarms.  Advanced algorithms are used to
  31. detect mutation, stealth and polymorphic viruses.

  33. Unknown Virus Detection
  34. -----------------------
  35. VirusNet uses heuristic and checksum scanning to detect unknown
  36. viruses.  Its heuristic scanner can detect unknown viruses by
  37. determining if a program contains suspicious or destructive code. It
  38. is highly effective at detecting new viruses.

  40. Checksum scanning is used to detect changes in program files and
  41. boot tracks.  It is highly effective at detecting new viruses.  An
  42. Exclude Files option eliminates false alarms.
  43.  
  44. Real-Time Virus Detection
  45. -------------------------
  46. The VIRSTOP program continuously prevents infected files from being
  47. run or copied.  It can also detect boot track viruses.  VIRSTOP
  48. should be loaded on each workstation either during bootup or after
  49. network login.  By using the /DISK switch, only 3K of memory overhead
  50. is required.  On systems that support it, VIRSTOP can be completely
  51. loaded into upper memory.
  52.  
  53. Disaster Recovery
  54. -----------------
  55. If a PC's hard disk becomes corrupted, or its CMOS battery fails,
  56. the Rescue Disk feature can quickly revive the PC.  Rescue Disk
  57. maintains each workstation's boot track, CMOS, and partition table.
  58. This information can be stored for all PCs in a central database
  59. on the network or on a floppy diskette.  When a workstation fails
  60. to boot, use Rescue Disk to restore the workstation in seconds!
  61.  
  62. Scheduled Scanning
  63. ------------------
  64. The VirusNet scanner can be run automatically at predefined
  65. intervals when the PC boots up or logs into the network. Virus
  66. scans can be scheduled on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis using
  67. the DO-ONCE scheduler.

  69. VirusNet LAN Features
  70. ---------------------
  71. VirusNet LAN includes Safetynet's LAN Scheduler & Distribution
  72. system (LANSD).  LANSD provides network control over workstation
  73. scanning and software updates.  Scans can be performed during
  74. workstation bootup, network login, or in the background from Windows.
  75. Events such as tape backups and modem transfers can also be
  76. scheduled.  Software distribution for up to 100 programs and 100,000
  77. files is provided.  LANSD installs itself to each workstation and
  78. automatically makes changes to each AUTOEXEC.BAT and WIN.INI file as
  79. required.
